Courses and safety

How long will it take to learn the basics?

If you’ve never experienced windsurfing, you’ll be sailing with a sail in your hand on your first lesson and will probably learn to do basic turns. You only need 3 to 5 hours to master the basics. Windsurfing has no end so to feel more confident on the board we invite you to 10 hours MAXI course!

At what age I can start my journey with windsurfing?

Kids can start their journey at the age of 5. We adjust methods of teaching and we have special equipment for younger ones.

What languages are classes taught in?

Our instructors speak many languages, such as: Polish, English, Croatian, German.

Is it difficult to keep balance on the board?

Keeping balance on the board is not difficult. If you’ve never done this before, you will be able to stand on the board quite comfortably after 15 minutes at our classes.

Is it hard to take rig (sail) out of water?

Modern rigs are really lightweight, so it’s not hard. Also, the technique of taking it out of water is important – and our instructors will help you with it.

Is it possible to buy additional hours during the course?

Of course, you can purchase additional hours of lessons, as well as rent equipment at any time during the season.

Can I buy lessons with my own equipment?

It is possible to take lessons on your own equipment, after prior consultation with the instructor.

Is windsurfing safe? What are the most common injuries?

Windsurfing is a safe sport. Instructors take care to maintain safety. Yes, there are individual injuries or scratches.

Is it necessary to buy additional insurance?

Yes, insurance is necessary, as well as EHIC (European Health Insurance Card). You can buy insurance on your own or through Tramontana.

By when do I need to register for the course?

The earlier the better, due to the division of groups by skill and language. But if you contact us on the day of the course, we will try to find a place for you!

Equipment and rental

What equipment can I rent from Tramontana?

We have a wide variety of windsurfing equipment.
The smallest boards start at 101 liters and the largest end at 225 liters. We have sails in sizes from 0,8m2 to 8,4m2. We have several types of windsurfing boards along with rigs. Stand up paddle boards, and entire training and glide sets.

What things do I need for the class that I cannot borrow?

We do not rent swimming shoes but they are recommended for beginners.

Can I rent the equipment only?

Yes, if you already know how to windsurf. If you have never done it before, we offer you a lesson because of your safety.

What documents are needed to rent equipment?

Proof of identity and of age is required. A person under the age of 18 rents through an adult’s document.

Payments and discounts

Is it possible to get a discount?

Yes, all promotions or discounts are included in the “Special offers” category on our website. Discounts cannot be combined.

Are there any additional discounts for larger groups?

Sure! Contact us if you have a larger team. We will consider a discount.

How can I pay for the purchased course and rented equipment?

Payment by bank transfer before arrival or in cash on the spot on the day of arrival and up to 15 minutes after the end of the rental.

Apartments

How are the apartments equipped?

For detailed information, please go to the “Accommodation” tab on our website. Each apartment is equipped with: air conditioning, kitchenette, Wi-Fi and monitored parking space.

Where are the apartments located?

The apartments are a 5 minute walk from our base. What is more, their location away from the main road makes the rest takes place in peace and quiet. Near is a grocery store, bakery and cafes and restaurants with regional food.

Omiš

Why Omiš?

It is a place where you can expect sandy beaches, constant wind and sunny weather.

What is Omiš like?

Omiš is located in Central Dalmatia, at the mouth of the Cetina River. It is characterized by narrow streets, even 1000-year-old monuments and the unique atmosphere of the real Croatia. Omiš is a town of pirates, wonderful views and, above all, an active holiday.

COVID-19

Are there any changes planned due to COVID-19?

We do not anticipate any changes in the summer season. Tramontana will operate as before 🙂

What if I will not be able to take the course because of epidemiological conditions?

If for epidemiological reasons you will be unable to take advantage we will refund 100% of the cost.

How does windsurfing look like in the times of pandemic?

Keeping a social distance in windsurfing classes due to its character is a lot easier. Equipment is disinfected on a regular basis. We also recommend you to familiarize yourself with the latest restrictions in Croatia before you go.
